Gayà: "We gave it our all"

The Valencia CF captain reviews the 2-2 result

Valencia CF captain José Luis Gayà assessed the draw with Racing Santander after the final whistle at El Sardinero.

The draw

“In the first half, despite our goal, they were the better side. We took the lead very early on, and knowing they would push hard -especially with them playing at home- we dropped back a bit. In the second half, we made adjustments and switched to a back four. The team found our rhythm; we played with more courage and showed more personality on the ball. We'll take the point and keep working.”

The final chance of the game

“It’s a shame; I thought it was going to go in, but Hugo was very tired -he was cramping up and was at his limit. It’s a pity. Everyone put in a good shift; we gave it our all, and we need to make this point count next weekend.”

The run of games at Mestalla

“We have to improve our results at home; we need to change that dynamic.”
